Director of Engineering & Projects
Vince’s career started with a BE (Mech) traineeship at BHP’s Pt Kembla steelworks where he soon had control over major budget expenditure, ran large teams with a substantial R&D program. He then built an insulation factory in Malaysia, before UGL enticed him to his current home in Newcastle where he led the United Goninan engineering team to make the world leading 2800 class loco for QR.
He came to the coal mining industry in 1995 where, with Phil Caldwell (RiP Apr 2017), he soon formed Calsun Projects, which then provided many east coast coal mining design-construct and service provision projects.
Vince’s engineering / project mgt roles included Ravensworth Coal Terminal, a 60m radial stacker for Saraji Mine, a 4,000t/hr curved overland conveyor at Kenmare Mine, raw and product coal systems at Cumnock Mine, centrifuge upgrades at Bulga mine and the first large banana screens to come into the industry, also at Bulga.
In 2016, Vince was the project mgr for a rejects screen installation at a Bowen mine site, which was the first of a new generation screening technology. Vince now takes a reinvigorated team on a journey to deploy this technology (and derivatives) and help the industry reach game changing productivity goals. (click for Resumé)
Principal Process Engineer
Dave is an experienced chemist and process engineer with over 35 years of experience in coal testing, coal preparation and mineral processing.
There is a great story to tell about Dave. He has been in many leading technical management roles including leading the pioneering effort to move the coal preparation process to conversion from sieve bend + low-head screens to banana screens. There is a lot more to Dave's story, but for now will just say we are so glad to have him leading the team technically to roll out the next gen screening technology.
Divisional Head, Operational Centres / Senior Construction Manager
Brad is an experienced construction and commissioning manager with over 20 years of experience with major greenfield & brownfield design construct projects in the resources, process and heavy industry sectors. In Brad's diverse career he has become highly respected as "the bloke that gets it done", undertaking a Completions role in often difficult remote environments, pulling projects into line and getting them finished to the client's satisfaction.
Brad has worked closely with iPUT's principals over the years and is now leading iPUT's personnel resources division, where our deep experience will lift the provision of site services to new levels of satisfaction for client and personnel alike.
Keeps the whole team cracking, and does a beautiful job of supporting everybody to keep things well coordinated.
Some high achievers with deep industry experience who are keen to come on board and ensure the roll-out of this important technology is a total success for every site that implements it. But they are just a little shy about saying who they are, until they make the move...
"What rejects bin? That thing is out of sight and out of mind. Never gives us any problems and always works as expected. JUST THE WAY WE LIKE IT."Coal Prep Plant Manager, Hunter Valley
"In twenty years the radial stacker you guys put there has given no trouble at all - except we are wearing out the (free issued) long travel wheels a lot, do you know how to stop that?" (We did; advised the right grade of wheel to buy)Maintenance Planner, Bowen Basin
"The rapid retrieval of the situation with the wrecked rail loader from when the loco hit it remains a career stand-out for me; never seen anything handled that well before, or since."Chief Engineer, Hunter Valley Mine
"I have seen a lot of FEL crusher setups in ROM coal, but never one as well laid out and functional as the unit you guys put up at Boggabri. Easy to maintain and live with operationally; a real gem."Nearby Mine Manager, Gunnedah Basin
"You guys did such a good job of that blending system for us, we really wish we could get you to take over all the other upgrade projects we have different contractors doing on the site."Chief Engineer, Pt Kembla
"The trend graph from the last 4 days of that new two mass rejects screen is showing a fantastic result, with very steady accelerometer values and good tonnage."Maintenance Manager, Bowen Basin
"We couldn't have got that mine viable if it weren't for the fantastic work you guys did to find economical solutions to our handling problems in the early stages. Thank you for this."Coal Group Manager
"Wow, one man operation of the whole crushing and auto-loading B-Double truck system that really works; it does what it is supposed to, has some great self-recovery features, and doesn't spill a drop - who comes up with that stuff!"Principal Engineer, Hunter Valley
